President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday received Nigeria’s Super Eagles and their coach Rohr Gernot in Abuja.
It was at a farewell reception at the Council Chambers in the Presidential Villa, for the national team, before their departure to Russia to take part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria is among the five African countries featuring in the competition.
President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Nigeria from London where he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The President took off from London on Saturday afternoon and arrived at Abuja after 7 pm. President Buhari had travelled to London on April 9, shortly after declaring his intention to seek re-election at the All Progressives Congress’ National Executive Council Meeting in Abuja. While attending CHOGM, the President called for more investments in Nigeria, pointing out that boosting trade and investment are the surest way of getting millions out of poverty. America’s the Chamber of Commerce has predicted that President Donald Trump’s strict stance on trade could put 2.6 million jobs at risk. Mr. Tom Donohue, President of the business organization of the Chamber, issued the forecast in a memo to the board of directors. The memo, citing outside studies, adds the possible job losses from tariffs both threatened and enacted by the administration, plus a possible US withdrawal from NAFTA, the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico. A NAFTA withdrawal would kill as many as 1.8 million American jobs in the first year, the memo warned. In addition, tariffs against China could cost 134,000 US jobs, steel and aluminum tariffs could cost 470,000 jobs, and tariffs on autos and auto parts could cost 157,000 jobs, Donohue warned.
