Jibrin finally speaks after being recalled by National Assembly


The former Chairman, Committee on Appropriation, House of Representatives, Abdulmumini Jibrin has spoken for the first time since he was recalled from suspension.
Jibrin was recalled on Tuesday, following a letter of apology he wrote to the House which was announced during plenary by Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.
“Today, I resumed representation of my constituency and legislative duties at the House of Reps.
“The experience of the last 2 years has prepared me even better to rededicate my self towards service of our country. I thank you for your support. I remain eternally grateful. A Jibrin,” he tweeted on Wednesday night.
Jibrin was suspended September 16, 2016 for 180 legislative days over budget padding allegations. 
The lawmaker from Bebeji/Kiru federal constituency of Kano state had accused Dogara, Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun, Chief Whip Alhassan Doguwa, Minority leader Leo Ogor and nine Committee Chairmen of padding the 2016 budget to the tune of N40bn.
He also alleged that most members of the House diverted N10bn in running cost that was not part of their salaries over the years.

Woman uses four-year-old baby to pay N100 debt

The Ebonyi state government has commenced investigation into how a mother used her four-year-old daughter to offset a debt of N100. The woman, Veronica Igwe, according to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Ministry, was been invited for questioning and later handed over to the police. She allegedly gave Uloma, her daughter, to Josephine Nwali after she could not pay a debt of N100. The transaction reportedly took place at the Abakaliki Rice Mill. Ms. Igwe told officials of the ministry that she took the decision to hand Uloma to Ms. Nwali when the pressure from the woman was becoming unbearable. When Ms. Igwe offered her daughter to Ms. Nwali in place of the money, she accepted. The creditor then took Uloma to her house at CAS Campus, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, where she had been for nine months before officials of the ministry got wind of the incident and went after her. Barcelona airport expansion scrapped as planes 'can't fly over Lionel Messi's house'

Lionel Messi is proving unbeatable both on the pitch and off it with Barcelona's El Prat airport expansion discarded because it would have led to more air traffic above his mansion in the coastal town of Castelldefels. While it has been reported that the project of adding a new runway located close to the sea, near the towns of Gava and Castelldefels,  was turned down for environmental and financial reasons , the president of Spanish low-cost airline Vueling offered a different perspective. "You cannot pass over where Messi lives,"  Javier Sanchez-Prieto said  during a talk at Barcelona's ESADE university. "This doesn't happen anywhere else in the world."
