Mohammed Salah beats De Bruyne to PFA Player of the Year prize


Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah, has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year for the 2017/2018 season.
Salah won the prize ahead of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, who was the early season favourite to claim it.
The other players nominated in the category included: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), David De Gea (Manchester United), Leroy Sane (Manchester City) and David Silva (Manchester City).
Salah enjoyed a fine debut season at Liverpool, equalling a 38-game Premier League record held by Alan Shearer (95/96), Cristiano Ronaldo (07/08) and Luis Suarez (13/14), with his 31st goal of the season in their 2-2 draw at West Brom.
The Egypt international will be hoping to end the campaign with a Champions League medal, with the Reds taking on his former club Roma in the semi-finals of the competition.

Atletico Madrid to arrive Nigeria today ahead of friendly with Super Eagles

Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, is expected to arrive Nigeria with his squad today, Monday, ahead of Tuesday’s friendly match with the Super Eagles. Simeone will land at the Abuja International Airport with a 23-man squad. Felipe Luiz, Torres Belen Juan Francisco, Angel Martin Correa, Victor Perez and Thomas Patey are some of the players expected for the game at the Akwa Ibom Stadium, Uyo. Atletico Madrid finished the LaLiga season on Sunday, with a 2-2 draw against Eibar. Simeone’s men finished second in the league behind Barcelona. They are however the current Europa League champions.

APC reacts to Melaye’s defection to PDP DEBO'S BLOG -  The Spokesman for the All Progressive Congress (APC) Bolaji Abdullahi, has revealed that Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West has not informed the party about his defection. Abdullahi however stated that the party respects “his right of association” and wished him “Goodluck”. “Well, to the best of my knowledge he did not inform the party. I don’t want to speculate on the reason for his decision. “We would wish Senator Dino Melaye had stayed to allow the ongoing reconciliation efforts to progress, but we respect his right of association and wish him goodluck. “I am also aware that for it to qualify as defection he has to formally notify the Senate President, which as far as I know, he has not done,” he said.
